According to the industry on January 18, the Associated Press, one of the world’s largest news agencies, highlighted that Boston Dynamics unveiled Atlas for the first time at CES, reporting that "Hyundai Motor Group has accelerated its efforts to build robots that look and work like humans."

The report added, "Atlas stood up from the floor on its two legs and walked gracefully across the stage for several minutes, occasionally waving to the audience or turning its head like an owl," and evaluated that "Atlas’s demonstration was outstanding, with no mistakes or shortcomings."

The Guardian, a daily newspaper based in London, devoted significant coverage to Atlas in an article introducing major robots unveiled at CES 2026. The Guardian introduced Atlas’s waterproofing and automatic battery replacement features, stating, "This year, Atlas, which has undergone years of testing at Boston Dynamics, will emerge as a polished product."

France’s news channel Euronews also commented, "With its first public demonstration, Atlas has proven it is no longer just a prototype," and added, "Hyundai Motor Group, through Atlas, will help reduce the need for physical labor and alleviate physical burdens, laying the foundation for human-robot collaborative environments."

Automotive and tech publications worldwide have also published numerous articles on the subject. The U.S. automotive magazine Autoweek, in an article titled "Hyundai’s Next Mobility Revolution Isn’t a Car," introduced that "Hyundai Motor Group will promote collaboration between robots and humans and integrate Boston Dynamics into Hyundai’s global manufacturing ecosystem."

The British tech media outlet TechRadar evaluated, "Atlas is one of the most advanced humanoid robots in the world," while the U.S. IT media outlet The Verge reported that Atlas is expected to compete with Tesla’s humanoid Optimus.

Media outlets also focused on Atlas being deployed in manufacturing sites. The Turkish tech magazine Interesting Engineering analyzed, "Hyundai Motor Group is not just showcasing robots, but actually deploying them in real factory settings," and stated, "This has become a platform for discussing how to further expand automation in actual factories."

Japan’s robotics magazine RobotStart predicted, "The robot ecosystem that Hyundai Motor Group is pursuing will enable mass production and social implementation of AI robots, allowing the company to secure leadership not only in technology but also in business."

Meanwhile, on January 8 (local time), Atlas received the "Best Robot" award at "Best of CES 2026," selected by the global IT media outlet CNET at the CES venue.
