On January 16, Guri City announced that it has begun accepting applications for the "2026 Passive Housing Remodeling Support Project." The purpose of this project is to create a more comfortable residential environment by providing financial support for energy performance improvement work on old homes with poor insulation.

The core of this support project is substantial financial assistance for energy efficiency improvements. If selected, applicants can receive support for up to 90% of the net construction cost, with a maximum of 10 million won, for projects that significantly reduce energy consumption, such as replacing windows and boilers, reinforcing wall insulation, and applying heat-reflective coatings. Applicants are only required to cover 10% of the total construction cost themselves.

Eligibility is limited to owners of single-family or multi-family homes located in Guri City that are more than 10 years old. To ensure fairness and enhance welfare, the city will give priority to low-income households, families with three or more children, and basic pension recipients when selecting the final beneficiaries.

Citizens wishing to apply for the project must prepare the relevant documents and submit them in person to the Architecture Division of Guri City Hall by January 30.

For all applications received, on-site inspections and professional preliminary consultations by the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology will be conducted. Final recipients will be determined following a review by the Guri City Architecture Committee, and the results will be individually notified.

Mayor Baek Kyunghyun stated, "We will ensure that this project is implemented effectively so that residents living in aging homes can truly experience the benefits of energy savings," adding, "We hope for the active interest and participation of all residents."

Meanwhile, further details about the project can be found in the "2026 Guri City Passive Housing Remodeling Support Project Guidelines" posted on the Guri City Hall website.
