President Lee Jaemyung will hold a New Year's press conference at the Blue House State Guest House on January 21. This will be the first official press conference held at the Blue House since the presidential office was relocated from Yongsan. The conference will last 90 minutes and will be attended by 160 domestic and international journalists.
Lee Guyoun, Senior Presidential Secretary for Public Relations and Communication, held a briefing at the Chunchugwan press center on January 16, stating, "The slogan for the New Year's press conference is 'A Great Transformation Achieved Together, A Great Leap Forward Enjoyed by All.' In 2026, which marks the 'first year of the Great Leap Forward,' the President will present detailed plans for national governance aimed at this transformation."
This press conference will be conducted in a free Q&A format, without any pre-arranged or coordinated questions, often referred to as 'scripted exchanges.' Questions will be asked by President Lee and the moderator, and the Q&A session will be divided into three areas: public livelihood and the economy, foreign affairs, security and national defense, and social and cultural issues.
The administration has also arranged for two professional YouTubers who produce video content in the fields of economy and culture to be given the opportunity to ask questions. This is intended to reflect a diverse range of perspectives from the field.
The key visual for this New Year's press conference is designed to symbolize 'the light of transformation that will create active communication with the people.' Lee emphasized, "The visual delivers a message of significantly strengthening communication with the people."
