North Gyeongsang Roads on 'Black Ice Alert'... Police and 11 Agencies Launch Joint Response Snowstorm and Ice Preparedness: Role Allocation and On-Site Response Inspection Priority snow removal on high-traffic sections, request additional application of de-icing agents every 2 to 3 hours

This meeting was organized to preemptively inspect the snow removal response system, including not only expressways and national and local roads but also privately funded expressways, and to strengthen cooperation between agencies, as the risk of major accidents increases due to road icing and black ice during repeated cold waves and snowstorms in winter.

During the meeting, the participating road management agencies shared their snow removal measures in preparation for heavy snow and icy conditions. They also focused on discussing preemptive actions and rapid on-site response strategies according to changing weather conditions. In particular, the meeting emphasized the development of proactive snow removal and re-icing prevention measures, especially for high-risk sections.

The North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency referred to a traffic accident that occurred on the Dangjin-Yeongdeok Expressway on January 10 and called for active responses from road management agencies to prevent the recurrence of similar accidents.

The police requested that, considering road conditions and snowfall, snow removal should be prioritized on high-traffic sections, and additional deicing agents should be applied every 2 to 3 hours during periods when the risk of re-icing is high.

Each agency agreed to proactively strengthen snow removal operations and on-site safety activities in accordance with weather forecasts for heavy snow and icy conditions, and to maintain a constant cooperation system to ensure immediate response in case of emergencies.

An official from the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency stated, "To ensure the safety of residents during the winter, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation system by establishing emergency contact channels between related agencies and sharing real-time information about hazardous situations."
