Joint Training of 90 Athletes from Six Teams
Gift Certificate Support Injects Vitality into Local Businesses
Uiseong County is accelerating its efforts in "stay-type sports marketing" using the traditional sport of Ssireum as a medium. By consecutively attracting winter training camps, the county aims to create a virtuous cycle that boosts both training infrastructure and the local economy.
Uiseong County (Governor Kim Jusoo) announced that it has attracted the "Winter Training Camp for Domestic Ssireum Teams," which will be held for 13 days from January 12 to January 24, centered around the Uiseong Ssireum Training Center and the Uiseong Student Ssireum Center.
About 90 athletes from six teams-including Incheon Metropolitan City Hall, Yangpyeong County Office, Daegu University, Yeungnam University, Yongin University, and Yongin High School-are participating in this training camp, engaging in joint training and inter-team exchanges.
The winter training camp is considered a crucial period for improving athletes' physical strength and skills ahead of the new season. In particular, joint training sessions that enhance real-game sensibility not only improve athletic performance but also strengthen team cohesion.
Uiseong County is reinforcing its competitiveness as an "optimal training destination" by providing a stable training environment through the integration of the Ssireum Training Center, which was completed in September last year, with both indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
Uiseong County believes that hosting this training camp will not simply be a sports event, but will also invigorate the local economy. The county plans to provide Uiseong Love Gift Certificates to participating teams to encourage spending on accommodation, dining, and daily necessities within the region, thereby expanding the influx of stay-type sports visitors.
Governor Kim Jusoo stated, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure that all Ssireum teams visiting Uiseong for training can do so safely and without injury during their stay," adding, "We will continue to actively pursue sports marketing to broaden the base of Ssireum and enhance the region's image."
Uiseong County has developed Ssireum as its representative brand. If the hosting of training camps becomes a regular occurrence, the region is expected not only to secure consistent training demand but also to further strengthen its status as a center for traditional sports.
