On January 16, the Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they had decided not to refer Nana for prosecution, determining that she was not guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault charges.

Previously, a man in his 30s, identified as A, who had been detained and referred for prosecution on robbery charges, filed a complaint from jail in December last year, claiming he was injured by a weapon wielded by Nana. The police explained that after questioning Nana on January 8 and thoroughly reviewing the circumstances and related evidence, they concluded her actions constituted legitimate self-defense and notified her of the decision not to refer the case for prosecution.

A was arrested and referred for prosecution on charges of breaking into Nana’s home in Acheondong, Guri City, around 6 a.m. on November 15 last year, threatening and injuring Nana and her mother with a weapon, and demanding valuables. Investigations revealed that he climbed up to the veranda using a ladder, entered the house through an unlocked door, and proceeded inside.

According to the police investigation, A assaulted Nana’s mother, including choking her, after encountering her inside the house. Nana, awakened by her mother’s screams, intervened to stop the attack, leading to a physical struggle during which A sustained a jaw injury from a weapon.

Subsequently, A claimed that Nana’s actions during the struggle amounted to “attempted murder.” In response, Nana’s agency Sublime stated, “The perpetrator, showing no remorse, exploited the fact that Nana is a public figure by filing a separate complaint against her. This has resulted in secondary harm through inhumane actions.”
