Lee Hyehoon 'Banpo Apartment Fraudulent Subscription Allegations' Case Assigned to Bangbae Police Station Yonhap News Agency

On January 16, the Seoul Bangbae Police Station announced that the case filed by the Citizens’ Action for Judicial Justice (Sasehaeng) against nominee Lee, her spouse, and their eldest son has been assigned to the investigative division.

Previously, Sasehaeng filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, alleging that nominee Lee and her family falsely claimed to have an unmarried dependent child and obtained property gains worth several billion won. The complaint was filed on charges including fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

In 2024, nominee Lee applied for an apartment in Raemian One Pentas, Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and was selected as the top-priority winner in the general supply category. The number of dependents, including her spouse and three sons, contributed to her subscription score. However, it was recently revealed that as of December 2023, prior to the application, her eldest son was already married. The market profit that nominee Lee's family is estimated to have gained from this apartment currently exceeds 4 billion won.
