Park Inho, Former Air Force Chief of Staff, Appointed as Ambassador to Israel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on January 16 that Park Inho, former Air Force Chief of Staff (35th class of the Air Force Academy, age 62), has been appointed as the new Ambassador to Israel.

Ambassador Park previously served as Commander of the 19th Fighter Wing, Director of Strategic Planning at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Director of Policy Planning and Director of North Korea Policy at the Ministry of National Defense, Superintendent of the Air Force Academy, and Director of the Strategic Planning Headquarters at the Joint Chiefs of Staff. During the Moon Jae-in administration, he was appointed Air Force Chief of Staff in July 2021 and served until May 2022 before retiring from the military. Afterward, he worked as a policy advisor to the Air Force and as a distinguished professor at Hankyung National University, before being selected as Ambassador to Israel.


In addition, Kim Sungmin, former honorary professor of philosophy at Konkuk University (age 58), has been appointed as Consul General in Shenyang. Consul General Kim previously served as President of the Korean Philosophical Association and Vice President of the North Korea Studies Association. He has also been an advisor to the National Assembly's Advisory Committee for Peaceful Diplomacy on the Korean Peninsula and Chairman of the Policy Committee of the National Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation. Last year, he served as Chairman of the Peace Committee of the National Unification Advisory Council.
