Prime Minister Kim Minseok held a briefing on January 16 at the Government Complex Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul, regarding administrative integration incentives. He announced, "We will prepare an unprecedented financial support plan for the integrated special city, providing up to 5 trillion won annually and up to 20 trillion won over four years."

He further emphasized, "We also plan to grant the integrated special city a status equivalent to that of Seoul."

The regions targeted for integration this time are Daejeon-Chungnam and Gwangju-Jeonnam. For the integrated special city, the government will promote the redistribution of national resources, including the establishment of an 'administrative integration grant tax' and an 'administrative integration support fund.' In addition, bold support measures such as the prioritized relocation of public institutions and industrial revitalization will be implemented.
