A large-scale complex with 1,760 residential units will be supplied in the Jeonnong 8 District of Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.

On January 16, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the First Integrated Review Committee for Redevelopment Projects had conditionally approved the proposal for the new "Jeonnong·Dapsimni Redevelopment Promotion Zone Jeonnong 8 District Housing Redevelopment Project," after a comprehensive review covering a total of seven areas: architecture, landscape, transportation, education, environment, parks, and disaster prevention.

With this decision, the Jeonnong 8 District will see the construction of 11 buildings, ranging from five basement floors to 35 above-ground floors, providing a total of 1,760 residential units, including 351 public housing units.

Jeonnong 8 District is expected to be reborn as a residential complex with transportation, green spaces, and educational infrastructure, in addition to its locational advantage near Cheongnyangni Station, a key area in northeastern Seoul. Through public contributions, facilities such as public sports centers and parks will also be established.

On the northern side of the site, a park the size of a soccer field (approximately 6,700 square meters) will be created to expand green space, featuring fitness facilities and rest areas favored by residents. An underground public parking lot will also be built beneath the park.

Additionally, on the southern side, sports facilities including a swimming pool, fitness center, and multipurpose gymnasium will be established for use not only by residents but also by nearby community members. The committee also called for the enhancement of the park's role as an urban retreat for residents through additional planting plans for the new park.

The Jeonnong·Dapsimni Redevelopment Promotion Zone is one of the largest new town projects representing northeastern Seoul. Once the Jeonnong 8 District is completed, the supply of approximately 9,000 residential units in the zone will be nearing completion. The city plans to expedite the approval procedures for the project implementation and management disposal plans in cooperation with the district office, aiming to advance the housing supply timeline ahead of schedule in accordance with the measures to accelerate redevelopment projects.

Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "Now that the Jeonnong 8 District development project is on track, we will spare no effort to ensure its smooth progress," adding, "We expect to provide a more pleasant and safe living environment for residents near Cheongnyangni Station, who have endured inconvenient and aging housing conditions for a long time."
