Kwangsik Ahn, Director of Sejong Education Hope Institute, who is preparing to run for Superintendent of Education in Sejong Special Self-Governing City in the upcoming June 3 local elections, will hold a press conference at 2:00 p.m. on January 20 at Sejong City Hall to officially announce his candidacy.


At this press conference, Director Ahn will present his diagnosis of the current state of education in Sejong, and will outline his reasons for running, emphasizing the need for a structural transformation that goes beyond the limitations of the existing educational administration and prioritizes responsible governance.


He will also officially announce his vision for Sejong education, key policy directions, and plans for the upcoming election.


Drawing on his experience as a teacher, an educational administrator, and currently as Director of the Sejong Education Hope Institute, Kwangsik Ahn has studied all aspects of Sejong's education system. He has stated his intention to propose an educational administration that connects the voices from the field to policy.


In particular, he plans to identify student growth, the restoration of teacher professionalism, and the rebuilding of trust among parents and citizens as core tasks for transforming Sejong's education.


Kwangsik Ahn was born in Sejong Special Self-Governing City and attended Seongdeok Elementary School, Geumho Middle School, Daejeon Dongsan High School, and earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Chungnam National University. He served as a teacher in the regions of Geumsan, Nonsan, Cheonan, and Janghang in South Chungcheong Province, as well as in Sejong at Sejong High School and Sejong High-Tech High School (now Sejong Mirae High School). He has also served as President of the Geumho Middle School Alumni Association and as Director of the Career Education Center at the Sejong City Office of Education.
