Yook Dongil, President of the Korea Institute of Local Administration, identified several key research and support areas to address complex crises such as population decline, regional extinction, and rapid changes in the administrative environment. These areas include: innovation in intelligent local administration based on AI and digital transformation; balanced growth and administrative system reform based on the 'Five Major Regions and Three Special Zones' strategy; strengthening local autonomy capabilities; and promoting the growth of the social solidarity economy.

In particular, in the field of the social solidarity economy, the institute plans to develop policy alternatives aimed at strengthening the institutional foundation for local social economy actors, such as village enterprises and cooperatives, with the goal of restoring local communities and building a sustainable regional economy. Through these efforts, the institute seeks to ensure that local autonomy contributes to economic revitalization and stability in residents' daily lives.

Additionally, the institute will present directions for change and practical strategies for local administration, and will strengthen its role as a policy think tank that connects central and local governments and supports national policy initiatives.

President Yook stated, "By focusing our research capabilities on AI-based administrative innovation and strengthening local autonomy, we aim to realize resident-centered, locally driven, and field-oriented local administration that enables residents to feel real change in their daily lives. We will also enhance our role as a leading policy platform for local administration by connecting national policy initiatives, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's top 10 priorities, and the needs of local communities."
