On the evening of January 14, a large fire broke out at Ananti Club Jeju (formerly Saint Four) Golf Course, located in Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, and was extinguished after more than five hours. While there were no casualties, the fire caused significant property damage, including the destruction of approximately 120 turf maintenance vehicles, which are essential for the golf course’s operations.

According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters on January 15, the fire started at around 6:17 PM on January 14 near the management office of Ananti Club Jeju in Kimnyeong-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City.

After receiving a report that "flames were rising from the management office area," the fire authorities responded and confirmed that the fire had started in a steel container and rapidly spread to the adjacent equipment storage building. In response, they declared "Response Level 1," mobilizing all personnel from the local fire station and focusing all efforts on extinguishing the blaze.

The fire authorities managed to bring the main fire under control by 8:16 PM, about two hours after the outbreak, and after additional efforts to extinguish remaining embers, they fully put out the fire by 11:52 PM.

Fortunately, all employees evacuated during the fire, and no injuries were reported. However, the scale of property damage was found to be significant. One equipment building with a sandwich panel structure was completely destroyed, and, in particular, expensive equipment stored inside could not be saved from the flames.

According to the fire authorities, the fire damaged as many as 120 maintenance vehicles. Fortunately, no damage was reported to the battery-powered electric carts.

However, as the specialized vehicles essential for golf course maintenance were lost all at once, there are concerns that the operation and maintenance of the golf course will face significant disruptions for an extended period.

The police and fire authorities are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and the specific amount of property damage.
