Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District: "We Will Make Yongsan the Gateway to Korea's Future"... New Year's Meeting on the 23rd

Sharing the Vision for Major Urban Transformation and Resident-Centered Policies

Yongsan District in Seoul (Mayor Park Heeyoung) will host the '2026 New Year's Meeting' at 3 p.m. on January 23 at the Mir Grand Theater in Yongsan Art Hall.


Approximately 1,000 people are expected to attend the event, including Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District, Oh Sehoon, Mayor of Seoul, Kwon Youngse, National Assembly member, Kim Seongcheol, Chairman of the Yongsan District Council, heads of related organizations and professional associations, and representatives of residents from all walks of life.

On this day, Mayor Park will outline the direction of the district administration for the fourth year of the 8th popularly elected term, focusing on a major urban transformation and resident-centered administration. The plans include developing the Yongsan International Business District (Yongsan Seoul Core) and creating an AI and ICT new industry hub in the Yongsan Electronics Market area (Yongsan Core Valley) to establish Yongsan as a global business hub. The event will also share plans for urban development across the district, such as the Hannam Redevelopment Promotion Project, large-scale transportation infrastructure projects like railway undergrounding, and the extension of the Shinbundang Line.


The agenda also features a wide range of policies aimed at improving residents' daily lives. Initiatives include the creation of a healing garden at the district office, installation of heated roads, expansion of smart shelters, and increased sports facilities to enhance pedestrian environments, as well as customized welfare and strengthened healthcare infrastructure. Policies to revitalize neighborhood shopping streets and traditional markets, and to improve satisfaction with public education, will also be presented, targeting the local economy and education sectors.


Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, "This year's New Year's Meeting will serve as a starting point for envisioning a greater future for Yongsan together with our residents," adding, "With more than 1,300 public officials, we will work even harder to ensure that policies truly benefit every resident in the community, and we will make Yongsan not only the center of Seoul but also the gateway to the future of Korea."
