At around 5:53 a.m. on January 14, a six-vehicle collision occurred on the three-lane one-way road near Yangsan Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway in Dong-myeon, Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province.


A compact car, a taxi, a sport utility vehicle (SUV), a sedan, a van, and another SUV, all traveling from Busan toward Seoul, collided one after another, resulting in damage to all six vehicles.


As a result of the accident, a woman in her 50s who was sitting in the back seat of the taxi sustained serious injuries, while a woman in her 30s who was driving the compact car was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest.


The taxi driver, a man in his 70s, a female passenger in her 70s in the front seat, and the sedan driver, a man in his 40s, suffered minor injuries, and all other injured individuals except for the man in his 40s were also transported to the hospital.


Due to the aftermath of the accident, partial traffic congestion occurred in the area for about an hour.


The police are reviewing footage from the vehicles' dashboard cameras (black boxes) and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning the drivers and others involved.
