Hallym University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Professors Receive Commendation for Contributions to Donghae City Regional Development

Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Based on the RISE Initiative
Recognized for Achievements in AI Transformation

Professors from the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) have received a commendation from the Mayor of Donghae City in recognition of their contributions to industry-academia-government cooperation and AI-based regional innovation. This commendation was awarded to Professor Bang Gisuk, Professor Seo Kyuwon, and Professor Kim Sungwoo.

Professor Bang Gisuk was recognized for overseeing the collaboration framework among local governments, industries, and universities, as well as for planning and managing AI projects based on local needs, thereby contributing to the activation of AI in Donghae City. Professor Seo Kyuwon contributed to strengthening the competitiveness of local industries through research on hydrogen mobility and digital twin-based logistics and smart ports. Professor Kim Sungwoo contributed to enhancing local AI utilization capabilities by planning and operating AI education programs in Donghae City and providing practical training for public officials and industry professionals.

Hallym University is promoting research projects aimed at solving local issues in Donghae City, policy proposals for AI transformation, and industry-academia-government linked educational programs based on G-Lab@Donghae. Through these efforts, the university is focusing on generating practical outcomes that can be immediately applied in administrative and industrial settings.

Meanwhile, as part of this collaboration, Hallym University will operate the "Regional Linked Practical AI Education Program" for Donghae City Hall and industry professionals from January 15 to 16. This program is a hands-on course centered on generative AI, designed to be applicable across administration, management, and practical work, with the goal of expanding AI utilization in the region and strengthening innovation capabilities in work processes.
