Korea South-East Power Andong Bitdream Headquarters Awarded Minister of Employment and Labor Award for Excellence in PSM Safety Culture Promotion
The Andong Bitdream Headquarters announced that it was selected as an award recipient at the "PSM (Process Safety Management) Safety Culture Promotion Best Practices Competition" organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The selection was based on the effectiveness of its matching consulting initiatives aimed at small and vulnerable businesses and its significant contribution to improving safety standards at industrial sites.
This competition was established to identify and promote outstanding cases that have contributed to establishing and spreading a safety culture at PSM-implementing workplaces. The awardees are determined through a comprehensive evaluation of the activities and achievements of the businesses participating in the matching consulting program.
The Andong Bitdream Headquarters has stably established its process safety management system, becoming the first power generation public enterprise to achieve the highest P grade in PSM for three consecutive years.
Building on these internal safety management achievements, the headquarters has participated in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's matching consulting program for small and vulnerable businesses, conducting consulting in the northern Gyeongbuk region for two consecutive years and making a tangible contribution to strengthening the safety management capabilities of local small and micro enterprises.
In particular, the award was attributed to the headquarters’ efforts to "spread a safety culture that everyone protects together," including strengthening management’s commitment to safety, providing customized technical support through external experts, and implementing field-oriented consulting that enables workplaces to identify and address risk factors on their own. As a result, the effectiveness of process risk assessments has been enhanced, and concrete achievements have been made in preventing industrial accidents and serious disasters.
Kim Sangman, head of the Andong Bitdream Headquarters, stated, "This award is the result of our ongoing efforts to prioritize safety and conduct field-oriented preventive activities." He added, "We will continue to expand PSM matching consulting for small and vulnerable businesses in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, fulfilling our social responsibility as a public enterprise by establishing a safety culture at local industrial sites and preventing serious accidents."
This award demonstrates that the safety management achievements of a large public enterprise can extend beyond internal accomplishments and spread to small businesses and local industrial sites. It is significant in showing that when a "prevention-oriented, field-experienced" safety culture is established beyond mere regulatory compliance, the policy goal of reducing serious accidents can be realized with tangible results.
