SBI Savings Bank announced on the 14th that it has completed the development of its in-house chatbot, 'Sbiebot', and launched the service.
Sbiebot is equipped with 'GPT-OSS-120B', a high-performance open-source large language model (LLM) from OpenAI, and was developed by integrating Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. RAG is a technology that enables AI to search for necessary information from external sources such as internal documents before answering a question, providing supporting evidence to deliver more accurate responses. This approach reduced development costs while ensuring answer quality that can be immediately applied to work tasks.
The system is designed to enhance user convenience by automatically distinguishing between summary and detailed responses based on the intent of the question.
Sbiebot consists of a 'corporate knowledge bot', which provides answers focused on work manuals, and a 'general knowledge bot', which explains financial and technical terms, guides users through various document programs, and supports writing and coding. It was developed to enable users to quickly and easily acquire knowledge and information in a wide range of fields beyond just work-related matters.
SBI Savings Bank expects that using Sbiebot will dramatically improve work efficiency. The process of individually searching for documents or asking each person in charge will be reduced, allowing employees to focus more on core work tasks.
SBI Savings Bank plans to continue advancing Sbiebot. The company intends to continuously expand the scope of internal work knowledge while evolving Sbiebot into a multimodal AI capable of simultaneously understanding, processing, and generating various types of data, such as text, images, audio, and video, including AI-based optical character recognition (OCR). Multimodal AI refers to an approach where AI understands and, when necessary, converts various types of information-not only text but also images, audio, and video-to generate answers.
A representative from SBI Savings Bank stated, "It is significant that we have established a foundation for sustainable AI transformation (AX) by developing an AI chatbot with our own technology," and added, "This year, we will strengthen our future growth engines through full-scale AX innovation."
