Cast of "The Gardeners" Announced
Koo Kyohwan, Song Seungheon, Lee Kwangsoo, and Shin Hyunbin Join
"Parasite" Cinematographer Hong Kyungpyo On Board
Actor Song Kangho is returning as a timid civil servant who loves plants. This is for the next film by director Nam Donghyup, who received critical acclaim last year for the movie "Handsome Guys."
On January 14, Hive Media Corp announced that it has completed casting for the main roles in the film "The Gardeners" (working title) and is officially moving forward with production. The story follows a civil servant whose only joy is tending plants, and a local troublemaker who team up to start a gardening business, leading their once-peaceful village into uncontrollable chaos.
Song Kangho will play Choi Youngil, the civil servant at the center of the story. Koo Kyohwan has been cast as Kim Moonho, the neighborhood delinquent who forms an unusual partnership with Choi Youngil. The supporting cast is also diverse. Song Seungheon joins as Han Cheongyong, a former star who has hit rock bottom due to a certain incident; Lee Kwangsoo plays President Song, Choi Youngil’s business partner and owner of a lottery shop; Shin Hyunbin appears as Kang Miae, a mysterious restaurant owner; and Lee Jaein will play Choi Eunsu, Choi Youngil’s daughter, adding tension to the narrative.
The cinematography will be handled by Hong Kyungpyo, who has proven his distinctive mise-en-scene in films such as "Parasite," "Snowpiercer," and "Deliver Us from Evil." The film will be produced by Hive Media Corp, known for major hits like "12.12: The Day" and "Inside Men." The project is currently in pre-production, with filming set to begin within the year.
