Contributing to Community Welfare
Through the Arim 1004 Movement
The Geochang County Waterworks Office in South Gyeongsang Province was selected as an 'Outstanding Institution in the 2025 General Waterworks Operator Management Evaluation' and donated the prize money of 1 million KRW to the Arim 1004 Movement as a sponsorship fund.
The Waterworks Office not only ranked third nationwide in the '2025 General Waterworks Operator Management Evaluation,' but also achieved fifth place in both the 'Post-Management Evaluation of Old Water Supply Network Maintenance Projects' and the 'Evaluation of Public Wastewater Treatment Facility Operations.' Through field-oriented management and systematic maintenance of water and sewage facilities, the office has demonstrated the highest level of water and sewage administration in the country.

To achieve these results, the Waterworks Office invested a total project cost of 23.6 billion KRW in 2024 to carry out maintenance projects for old water supply networks in Geochang-eup and Gajo-myeon, improving the water supply rate from 67.8% in 2018 to 84.6% as of December 2024. This prevented the leakage of 1.09 million tons of tap water annually and resulted in an annual budget saving of about 2.5 billion KRW. In addition, the Wicheon District was finally selected as the priority project for the second phase of the 2025 Geochang County old water supply network maintenance project, securing an additional total project cost of 20.7 billion KRW.
Meanwhile, in the field of sewage, the Geochang sewage treatment facility was expanded by 5,000 tons in 2024, and the sewage pipeline in Hwangsan Village, Wicheon, was also improved. In particular, since 2021, a small-scale sewage treatment facility has been installed in Cheongnim District, Namsang-myeon, with a project cost of approximately 12 billion KRW, raising the level of public health for local residents and contributing to the improvement of water quality in public water bodies.
This donation by the Geochang County Waterworks Office was made to share these achievements with the residents and to help neighbors in need in the community through the Arim 1004 Movement.
Park Gilgyu, Head of the Waterworks Office, said, "I am very pleased that the water and sewage administration of Geochang County has been recognized as the best in the country through various evaluations. To share this joy with the residents, the staff of the Waterworks Office came together to donate the prize money. We will continue to strive for a happy Geochang where everyone can enjoy the benefits of water welfare."
