The BBC Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1930, is one of the leading orchestras in the United Kingdom. In particular, the orchestra has consistently appeared on major stages at the BBC Proms, including the opening and closing concerts, and has maintained a broad repertoire that encompasses both contemporary music and the classical canon. As the resident orchestra at London's Barbican Centre, it holds regular concerts and has played a leading role in the British music scene by actively introducing and premiering works by contemporary composers.

Sakari Oramo, who has served as chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra for 13 years, will lead the performances.

Sakari Oramo, a conductor representing Finland, is known for his compelling interpretations not only of Nordic music but also of the broader German and British orchestral repertoire, guiding the orchestra with distinction.
