Vice Minister of Defense Meets with Dutch Minister for Defence Acquisition and Personnel

On January 13, the Ministry of National Defense announced that Vice Minister Lee Doohee met with Hays Teuneman, the Netherlands' Minister for Defence Acquisition and Personnel, at the Ministry's headquarters in Yongsan. During the meeting, they exchanged views on bilateral defense and defense industry cooperation, as well as the regional security situation.

Vice Minister Lee and Minister Teuneman agreed on the need to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the rapidly changing international security environment. They decided to pursue expanded information sharing and cooperation in various areas within the defense sector, including high-level exchanges, the defense industry, and fields such as artificial intelligence, space, and cyber.

Vice Minister Lee particularly emphasized that North Korea's advancement of its nuclear and missile capabilities, as well as the illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, pose a significant threat to the international community. He requested the Netherlands' support for South Korea's North Korea policy, which aims to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula and achieve North Korea's denuclearization.
