The "Dong-gu Mom Taxi Transportation Fee Support Program" in Gwangju's Dong-gu district has entered its third year, with both the number of users and the number of rides steadily increasing.
According to Dong-gu district on January 13, the number of Mom Taxi users rose by more than 20%, from approximately 900 in 2024 to over 1,100 in 2025. During the same period, the number of rides increased from around 2,400 to about 2,600, confirming a tangible expansion in demand.
An analysis of user data revealed that, in addition to regular prenatal checkups during pregnancy, there has been a clear increase in repeated and sustained use for infant and toddler vaccinations and various postnatal checkups, rather than just one-time use. Dong-gu district explained, "This demonstrates that Mom Taxi provides practical assistance during times when mobility is especially challenging, such as late pregnancy and immediately after childbirth."
The satisfaction survey also showed a marked increase in positive feedback. The percentage of respondents who said the service "helped with transportation for medical purposes" rose significantly from 86.9% in 2024 to 91.8% in 2025.
Anonymous users shared their thoughts, saying, "When raising a child, I end up going to the hospital almost every week, and thanks to the Mom Taxi support, I was able to reduce my transportation expenses," and "As my body became more uncomfortable or my belly grew, I came to appreciate the value of Mom Taxi even more."
A Dong-gu district official stated, "Mom Taxi is more than just transportation support; it has become a policy that naturally integrates into the daily lives of families with newborns. Based on our three years of operational experience, we will continue to enhance and develop the program to provide an even more stable and tangible service."
