Seogu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City is offering library users a unique reading experience.
On January 13, Seogu announced that it is operating an "MBTI Taste Reading" corner on the 4th floor Bookmaru of Seobitmoru Library, which combines MBTI personality type tests with books.
This initiative is part of a book curation project that recommends books based on the 16 MBTI personality types, using keywords for each type. It aims to increase interest in reading among both teenagers and adults, and to broaden access to and the range of book choices.
The corner provides MBTI personality type test sheets and displays recommended books for each type, allowing users to take the test and select books in the same space.
Seogu will also run an "MBTI Reading Diagnosis" program on January 15, which combines personality type testing with reading diagnostics.
This program is expected to help individuals better understand their reading preferences through personalized book recommendations and to foster empathy and communication among users.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seogu District, stated, "We have introduced a new book curation approach using personality types for citizens who are unsure of which books to read among the countless options available," adding, "We will continue to strive to establish the library as a cultural space that naturally connects residents with books."
