Gangwon Office of Education to Implement Main Office Restructuring in 2026
Strengthening On-Site Support and Reorganizing Functions Centered on the School Support Division
The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education implemented a restructuring of its main office organization as of January 1, 2026, with the aim of unifying project management and strengthening on-site support. This restructuring focused on establishing a responsive organizational system, optimizing the span of control for department heads, and reorganizing departmental functions.
As a key part of this restructuring, the former "Future School Support Division" was renamed the "School Support Division." In addition, the "Education Public Service Team" from the Budget Division and the "Administrative Information Team" from the General Affairs Division were transferred to the School Support Division. The "Future School Planning Team" and "Future School Operations Team," previously under the Future School Support Division, were merged and moved to the Facilities Division as the "Future School Development Team."
As a result, the School Support Division has been newly organized into three teams: the existing "School Support Team," and the newly transferred "Education Public Service Team" and "Administrative Information Team."
The School Support Team is responsible for: △ Promoting school complex facility projects △ Managing School Support Centers (teams) at education support offices △ Advancing school administrative work.
The Education Public Service Team handles: △ Management of autonomous regulations related to education public service positions △ Collective (wage) bargaining △ Improvement of working conditions △ Staffing and personnel management △ Management of salaries and retirement benefits △ Operation of welfare programs.
The Administrative Information Team is in charge of: △ Planning and coordination of information projects △ Supporting the operation of the NEIS and Edufine systems △ Information security and personal data protection △ Establishing SchoolNet services.
This reorganization of the School Support Division is intended to proactively respond to changes in future education policies and strengthen support for schools. By restructuring teams to better align with departmental functions, the division is expected to provide more efficient and systematic work support than before.
