On January 13, the Seoul city bus labor union began an indefinite, full-scale strike, resulting in the suspension of most city bus operations in Seoul. Despite it being rush hour, a bus stop near Seoul Station appeared deserted.
On this day, the majority of Seoul's 7,300 city buses ceased operations. This was due to the breakdown of wage and collective bargaining agreement negotiations between the Seoul City Bus Labor Union, which is part of the Korea Automobile Workers’ Federation and includes all 64 city bus companies in Seoul, and the management represented by the Seoul City Bus Transportation Business Association.
