The Financial Supervisory Service announced on January 13 that trot singer Na Taejoo has been appointed as an ambassador to promote the prevention of voice phishing scams.
The Financial Supervisory Service explained that Na Taejoo is well-known among middle-aged and older adults, who are particularly vulnerable to voice phishing, and that his dynamic stage performances incorporating taekwondo align with the image of taking a strong stand against crime.
Lee Chanjin, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, stated, "We are pleased to have singer Na Taejoo, who is familiar to the public, serve as an ambassador for the prevention of voice phishing scams. We hope that many people will pay more attention to voice phishing crimes and learn the response tips shared by Na Taejoo to help prevent damage. We look forward to his active role as an ambassador."
Na Taejoo said, "I am very pleased to be appointed as an ambassador for the prevention of voice phishing scams. I will do my best so that everyone who loves trot music can listen to my songs and be protected from voice phishing scams."
The Financial Supervisory Service plans to produce an educational video featuring Na Taejoo, in which he introduces three major types of voice phishing scams and explains how to respond to each. The video will be used in a nationwide public awareness campaign.
