This New Year’s meeting will take place from January 15 to 27 at five regional hubs within the district. Residents from all 18 neighborhoods will gather by living area to share updates on key district issues, engage in in-depth discussions on common regional challenges, and foster community harmony through open communication.
The district plans to use this opportunity to share with residents the progress and future plans for Yeongdeungpo’s core projects, including the construction of a new integrated district office, the demolition of the Yeongdeungpo Rotary overpass, the public housing project in the Yeongdeungpo jjokbangchon (shantytown), the creation of multi-purpose cultural spaces (Singil Chaekmaru Cultural Center, Brighton Library, and the space between Seonyudo Library), and the construction of the district-run Mullae Arts Center, as well as other major initiatives in each living area.
In particular, the mayor will meet directly with residents to carefully examine everyday inconveniences and local issues. Suggestions from residents that can be addressed immediately will be acted upon promptly, while matters requiring mid- to long-term review will be considered by the relevant departments and actively incorporated into district administration.
The schedule by region is as follows: YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center (Singil 6-dong, Daerim 1, 2, and 3-dong) on January 15; Yeongdeungpo Art Hall (Yeongdeungpo-dong, Dangsan 1 and 2-dong, Yangpyeong 1 and 2-dong) on January 20; Yeongdong Church (Singil 1, 4, 5, and 7-dong) on January 22; Dorim Church (Yeongdeungpo-bon-dong, Dorim-dong, Mullae-dong, Singil 3-dong) on January 23; and Yeouido Baptist Church (Yeoui-dong) on January 27.
Mayor Cho Hogwon stated, “The core of local autonomy is to listen to the voices of residents and reflect them in policy. Through this New Year’s meeting, we will use the valuable opinions shared from daily life as a compass for district administration, and work to realize direct democracy where residents are the true owners of their community.”
