"You're Fatter Than Me"... Woman in Her 60s Fined 1.5 Million Won for Causing Disturbance at Urology Clinic

On January 12, Chief Judge Kim Mikyung of the Daegu District Court Criminal Division 8 announced that she had sentenced a woman in her 60s, referred to as A, to a fine of 1.5 million won for disrupting work at a urology clinic.

On July 27, 2024, at a urology clinic in Daegu, A was prosecuted for shouting for about 20 minutes because a nursing assistant refused to accept a referral letter sent by fax from another hospital. Two days later, she returned and caused another disturbance for 30 minutes, making remarks to the same nursing assistant such as "You're fatter than me."

Chief Judge Kim stated, "In determining the sentence, I considered the degree of disruption to work, the fact that the clinic manager told investigators they did not wish for the defendant to be punished, as well as the defendant's age, health, character, environment, motive for the offense, and circumstances after the incident."
