Suwon City to Operate 'Citizens' Complaint Box' for 100 Days in the First Half of the Year, Accepting Complaints, Suggestions, Grievances, and Proposals

Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will operate the "Poksak Damatsuda! Citizens' Complaint Box" for 100 days from January 15 to April 24, 2026.

On January 13, Suwon City announced that it will establish a dedicated team called the "Citizen Voice Resolution Team" on January 15 to listen to more citizens and resolve their inconveniences. The city will operate the "Poksak Damatsuda! Citizens' Complaint Box" for 100 days each in the first and second halves of the year.

The Citizens' Complaint Box allows citizens to freely submit complaints, suggestions, grievances, and proposals. The boxes will be installed at City Hall, the four district offices, and 44 neighborhood administrative welfare centers.

Citizens can also apply online by searching for "Citizens' Complaint Box" in the "Sebit Toktok" application reception menu.

Suwon City will check the submitted complaints daily, categorize them, and assign them to the relevant departments. Upon receiving a complaint, the city will send a thank-you text message to the citizen who submitted it. The heads of divisions, bureaus, and offices, as well as district and neighborhood chiefs, will be held accountable for ensuring that the responsible department informs the citizen of the results.

Suwon City will introduce a data-based management system to visualize complaint data by sector, region, processing period, and progress stage, and to manage long-term and recurring complaints.

Additionally, complaints submitted last year will be managed in connection with the current system. The status of complaints "in progress" will be continuously updated, and "long-term issues" will be fully re-examined as of the current date. To encourage proactive complaint handling, incentives such as exemplary civil servant awards and active administration mileage will be strengthened for outstanding complaint-handling public officials.

Lee Jaejun, Mayor of Suwon, stated, "We will get closer to our citizens and listen to more of their voices," adding, "By continuously operating the 'Poksak Damatsuda! Citizens' Complaint Box,' we will realize administration that citizens can truly feel."

Meanwhile, from May 1, 2025, Suwon City received 1,658 complaints through the "Poksak Damatsuda! Citizens' Complaint Box" over a 100-day period and resolved 86% of them. Thanks to prompt and thorough complaint handling, citizen satisfaction reached 70%.
