Fortune Teller Cheonggong Appears at CES 2026
Shows Interest in AI Through YouTube and Other Platforms
Lee Junseok: "At First, I Thought It Was Just Someone Who Looked Similar"
Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform New Party, stated that he witnessed fortune teller Cheonggong at the site of 'CES 2026,' the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA. In an interview on SBS Radio's 'Kim Taehyun's Political Show' on the 12th, Lee said, "Suddenly, Cheonggong passed in front of me, and at first, I thought it was just someone who looked similar," adding, "But when I looked at the name tag, it was written as 'Cheonggong' in English, which surprised me."
On the 6th (local time), at CES 2026, the world's largest electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, fortune teller Cheongong appeared, attracting attention. Xbryk
According to Lee, Cheonggong appeared exactly as he is known to the public, wearing a white traditional robe, with a long white beard and white hair tied back in a single bundle. He was seen wearing a CES event participant badge around his neck as he toured the exhibition hall.
Previously, on the 6th, a photo was posted on social networking services (SNS) showing a person believed to be Cheonggong walking through the CES venue, drawing public attention. Cheonggong was also seen at Fremont Street, located in downtown Las Vegas. It is reported that Cheonggong watched a street dance performance on Fremont Street together with five or six people believed to be his entourage.
Cheonggong has been at the center of multiple controversies regarding his alleged relationship with former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife. Allegations have included suspicions of his involvement in the relocation of the presidential residence and claims that he wielded influence over policy decisions as an unofficial advisor. However, both the presidential office under the Yoon administration and Cheonggong's side have denied these claims. Furthermore, after the police searched the Ministry of National Defense and analyzed the closed-circuit (CC) TV installed at the Army Chief of Staff's official residence, it was concluded that the claim that Cheonggong was involved in the relocation of the presidential residence was not true.
It remains unclear in what capacity or for what purpose Cheonggong attended CES 2026. However, he has previously expressed interest in artificial intelligence (AI) through his YouTube channel, where he has discussed the subject. In August, he gave a lecture on 'New Paradigm Content Created by AI,' focusing on AI from his own philosophical perspective. It is interpreted that, as an extension of such lectures, he attended the exhibition as a visitor to directly observe AI technologies.
Meanwhile, Lee explained the background of his visit to CES by saying, "China's technological rise was impressive, but I am confident that if Korea-US cooperation is strengthened, we can overcome it." He emphasized, "Collaboration between Korean companies and major US tech firms is crucial in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence."
He added, "For example, even with Galaxy smartphones, the combination of Samsung's hardware capabilities and Google's Android technology enabled the sale of many phones. In the case of robots, Hyundai Motor Company showcased new possibilities through Boston Dynamics, and Google's technology will also be incorporated there. I believe that if such cooperation is strengthened, we can compete with China together."
