The Ministry of National Defense announced on January 12 that nine generals involved in the December 3 Martial Law have been given severe disciplinary action for violating their duty to comply with the law. Disciplinary actions against military personnel are categorized into severe measures, such as dismissal, removal, demotion, and suspension, and minor measures, such as salary reduction, confinement, and reprimand.
Among the generals who received severe disciplinary action that day, two major generals, who were involved in the organization and operation of the Martial Law Command, are reported to have been dismissed. Of the remaining seven brigadier generals, one received a two-month suspension, while six received a one-month suspension.
The term "Martial Law Bus" refers to a bus that, following the December 3 Martial Law, departed from the Army Headquarters at Gyeryongdae for Seoul at around 3:00 a.m. on December 4, 2024, under the orders of former Martial Law Commander Park Ansoo, but returned 30 minutes later. There were 34 people on board the bus.
