Pastor Jeon Kwanghoon of Sarang Jeil Church, who is awaiting a pretrial detention hearing (warrant review) on charges of inciting last January's riot at the Western District Court, has stated, "If I go to prison, I will return as president."

On January 11, during a nationwide Sunday joint worship service sermon held at 11 a.m. in Gwanghwamun, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Pastor Jeon said, "Everyone who is imprisoned becomes president," and added, "If I go to prison for the fourth time, I will return as president."

He continued, "Do not cry even if I go to prison. Everyone who has gone to prison because God needed them has become president," and added, "Even if I am detained, I will continue to write letters and have them delivered as prison letters through YouTube broadcasts. Do not worry."

The Seoul Western District Court will hold a warrant review for Pastor Jeon, who is charged with special trespassing and instigating obstruction of official duties, at 10:30 a.m. on January 13. Prosecutors requested an arrest warrant for Pastor Jeon on January 8.

Pastor Jeon is facing charges of inciting the riot at the Western District Court on January 19 last year, and he plans to announce his position through a press conference around 10 a.m. before entering the court on the day of the warrant review.
