Responding to Rising Management Costs
Continued Proactive Support
Damyang County in Jeollanam-do has announced that it will extend the 50% discount on agricultural machinery rental fees for local farmers, who are facing management difficulties due to high inflation and labor shortages, until the end of this year.
On January 12, Damyang County stated that, following last year, it will continue to offer a 50% discount on the usage fees for its agricultural machinery rental service this year, significantly alleviating the management burden on local farms.
According to the County Agricultural Technology Center, a total of 5,960 farms used the agricultural machinery rental service in 2025, with total rental fee revenues reaching 98 million won. This high usage rate demonstrates that the program is providing substantial support for local farmers' agricultural activities.
This extension of the discount is part of a livelihood stabilization measure to address the shortage of rural labor and the rising costs of agricultural materials such as fertilizer and feed. Any member registered with the main office or the southern and western branches of the county's agricultural machinery rental service can use all available equipment, including tractors and cultivators, at a 50% discounted rate.
A county official stated, "Last year, many farmers were able to reduce their management burden thanks to the discount benefits. This year, we have decided to continue the support, reflecting feedback from the field." The official added, "We will not only focus on cost reduction but also enhance service quality through thorough maintenance and the expansion of new equipment based on user demand."
