Follow-up Exchange in Nagano Prefecture in January 2026
Building on Achievements from the 2025 Gangwon Event
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) will host a Korea-Japan university student exchange event in the semiconductor sector in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, from January 12 to January 16.
This event is a follow-up exchange based on the achievements of the Korea-Japan university student semiconductor exchange held in Gangwon in August 2025. The program is characterized by students from both regions visiting each other to directly experience educational, research, and industrial sites.
During the exchange period, participating students will take part in semiconductor-related classes at Shinshu University, visit world-renowned semiconductor companies such as Epson and Shinko Electric, and participate in local cultural experiences and networking programs.
The province plans to use this exchange as an opportunity to strengthen the international competitiveness of local universities and to advance the global talent development system linked to the Gangwon-style semiconductor convergence major.
Yeo Jung-hyup, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "This exchange is a meaningful example of young people and universities taking the lead as local governments in Korea and Japan prepare together for future industries. We will continue to expand practical international exchanges that lead to tangible results."
