Industry's First Discount Applying Fuel Price Information Integration and Lowest Price Guarantee

On January 12, Hyundai Card announced that it has partnered with GS Caltex to launch the "Energy Plus Hyundai Card," which offers a lowest-price guarantee discount benefit. This is the first card in the industry to apply the lowest fuel price within the local area at the time of refueling.

The two companies discovered that drivers often travel long distances to their preferred gas stations for cheaper fuel or search for stations with lower prices while on the move. They determined that existing fuel cards, which only offer basic benefits such as discounts and reward points, are insufficient to fundamentally meet drivers' needs for reducing fuel costs.

The new product's lowest-price guarantee discount benefit is an innovative feature designed to address these customer inconveniences. Regardless of the GS Caltex station used nationwide, customers will be charged the lowest fuel price available in the surrounding area.

The lowest price is determined by comparing the prices of the same fuel type sold at gas stations operated by the four major domestic refiners (GS Caltex, SK Energy, S-Oil, and HD Hyundai Oilbank) and budget stations within a 5 km radius on the day of refueling. The price information is provided in conjunction with Opinet, the Korea National Oil Corporation's fuel price information portal.

If customers use the "Quick Refuel" service through the Energy Plus application, GS Caltex's simple payment service, they will receive an additional 5% discount on the payment amount. A 5% discount is also applied to payments for vehicle maintenance services, including parking, car washes, and repairs.

The annual fee for the Energy Plus Hyundai Card is 10,000 won. The card can be registered and used immediately through the Energy Plus app upon issuance.

A Hyundai Card representative stated, "The lowest-price guarantee discount benefit, introduced for the first time in the card industry, is an innovative feature that completely changes the paradigm of fuel cards. Both companies will strive to make refueling more convenient for customers through the Energy Plus Hyundai Card."

Meanwhile, the Energy Plus app's Quick Refuel service enables customers to order fuel, make payments, and accumulate points all at once. Currently, the Quick Refuel service is available at approximately 1,600 out of 2,000 GS Caltex stations nationwide, and the number of participating stations is increasing every year.
