Israel on High Alert Over Possible U.S. Intervention in Iran

Israel has entered a heightened state of alert as the United States hinted at the possibility of military intervention in Iran's violent crackdown on protesters.

Israel on High Alert Over Possible U.S. Intervention in Iran Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel.

According to foreign media reports on January 11 (local time), the Israeli government held security consultations over the weekend and has moved to a high state of readiness.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on January 10, during which they reportedly discussed the possibility of U.S. intervention in Iran.

If the United States launches a military attack on Iran, Israel-America's closest ally in the Middle East-faces a high risk of retaliatory attacks.

Israel and Iran, whose tensions have escalated due to the Gaza Strip war, engaged in direct clashes last year and the year before.

In an interview with The Economist on January 9, Prime Minister Netanyahu warned, "If Iran attacks Israel, it will lead to terrible consequences."
