Providing Practical Museum Experience, Nurturing Young Curators
Five Positions: One Each for Three Main Teams and Two Branches at Busan Museum
Busan Museum is publicly recruiting preliminary curators and educational instructors for young people who wish to enter the museum sector.
This recruitment is part of the "Busan Museum Curator Training Program," which aims to provide practical field experience and foster professional personnel in the curatorial and educational fields.
Five preliminary curators will be selected to work at both the main building and branch museums of Busan Museum. The main building will recruit one person each for the Education & Public Relations Team, Exhibition Operations Team, and Artifact Management Team. Additionally, one person will be selected each for the Jeonggwan Museum and Bokcheon Museum branches.
Busan Museum is a comprehensive museum that covers the history and culture of Busan from prehistoric times to the present. Preliminary curators at the main building will be assigned to teams and support key work such as exhibition planning, artifact management, and educational program operations. Jeonggwan Museum operates exhibitions and educational programs focused on the daily life of the Three Kingdoms period, while Bokcheon Museum runs exhibitions and educational content utilizing Gaya relics excavated from the Bokcheondong ancient tombs. Preliminary curators at the branch museums will play a role in promoting the value of Busan's ancient cultural heritage.
Applicants must be residents of Busan, aged between 18 and 39, and must have graduated from a relevant four-year university program (including those scheduled to graduate in February 2026) or hold at least a graduate degree. Selected preliminary curators will work full-time and gain practical field experience for nine months, from March to November.
Busan Museum is also recruiting educational instructors. Educational instructors must have a major related to museums or practical experience in the field, and, if selected, will participate in major educational projects for elementary school students.
Educational instructors will be active for one year, from March 2026 to February 2027, and will teach at Busan Museum's educational programs such as "Weekend at the Museum," "Summer at the Museum," "Dream Dream Museum," and "Visiting Busan History Stories." Approximately ten instructors will be selected.
Applicants must have at least a bachelor's degree in museum, fine arts, or arts-related fields. Non-majors must be currently enrolled in a master's program or higher. Additionally, those with practical experience in history or art education at museums, or those holding a cultural arts educator certificate and experience running educational programs for the public, are also eligible to apply.
Educational instructor applicants who pass the document screening must submit a lesson plan for elementary school students and conduct a demonstration lecture during the interview process.
Jung Eunwoo, Director of Busan Museum, stated, "We aim to provide young people aspiring to enter the museum sector with hands-on work experience and foster professional personnel who will contribute to the development of local culture and arts. We hope that preliminary curators and educational instructors will grow into cultural messengers who convey the history and culture of Busan."
