Korail has strengthened its emergency alert posture to prepare for abnormal winter weather conditions.
According to Korail on January 11, an emergency railway safety countermeasure meeting was held the previous day at the Daejeon headquarters after the cold wave disaster warning was raised to "caution," and the company-wide disaster response system was reviewed. The meeting was chaired by Acting President Jeong Jeongrae, with heads of the headquarters and regional offices participating online.
Korail is operating a 24-hour Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters. From early morning on the same day, Korail sprayed anti-icing agents on the undercarriage of high-speed trains during dispatch and applied snow barriers and anti-icing chemicals along the tracks. The company also re-examined the distribution of snow removal supplies and equipment by region and established a joint response system with relevant agencies to prepare for nighttime snowfall and freezing.

Measures have also been put in place to prepare for strong winds. Equipment at stations and along tracks that could be blown away by gusts is being secured or removed, and if any foreign objects are observed falling during operations, trains will be stopped immediately in the event of an abnormal situation.
Acting President Jeong stated, "Until the current weather conditions-marked by strong winds, heavy snowfall, and cold waves-are resolved, we will maintain a 24-hour emergency response system company-wide and make every effort to ensure the safety of train operations, prioritizing the safety of both employees and customers."
