A strong wind and cold wave advisory has been issued across Gwangju and the entire Jeonnam region, with forecasts predicting heavy snowfall of more than 20 cm from tonight until tomorrow.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on January 10, as of this afternoon, preliminary heavy snow advisories have been issued for 18 cities and counties in Gwangju and Jeonnam. Due to the influence of cold continental high pressure, snow or rain is expected to begin tonight and continue through the morning of January 11 in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas.

The expected snowfall between January 10 and 11 is 5 to 15 cm in most parts of Gwangju and Jeonnam, with some areas along the west coast of Jeonnam forecast to receive more than 20 cm of heavy snow.

According to a meteorological official, snowfall will be most intense between 9 p.m. tonight and noon tomorrow, with very heavy snow falling at rates of more than 5 cm per hour.

Temperatures are also expected to drop significantly. As of 9 p.m. today, a cold wave advisory has been issued for 10 areas in Jeonnam: Goheung, Jangheung, Gangjin, Haenam, Wando, Yeongam, Muan, Yeonggwang, Mokpo, and Jindo. On the morning of January 11, the lowest temperature will range from -7 to -3 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperature during the day will remain between -1 and 3 degrees Celsius, with many areas experiencing sub-zero cold throughout the day.

An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration emphasized, "In areas where snow is falling, visibility will be very low and temperatures will be low, resulting in icy roads and black ice in many places. Please pay special attention to facility management and traffic safety, and check weather information frequently."
