On January 9, the Jaegu Uljin Residents’ Association held the "60th Annual General Meeting and New Year’s Greeting Ceremony" at the Art Hall on the 3rd floor of Wedding Vienna in Suseong-gu, Daegu.

More than 500 people, including members, guests, and presidents of each town and township association, attended the event, reflecting on the 60-year history of the association and pledging a new leap forward.

The event was further enriched by the attendance of key figures from the government, public sector, and alumni communities, including President Kim Hak-yong, President Lee Donghwan of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Residents’ Association, Uljin County Governor Son Byungbok, National Assemblyman Park Hyungsoo, and Suseong District Mayor Kim Daegwon.

In his opening remarks, President Kim Hak-yong stated, "For the past 60 years, the Jaegu Uljin Residents’ Association has served as a focal point for Uljin natives living outside their hometown, acting as a bridge connecting their roots and the local community. Now, it is time for us to move beyond being a simple social group and take a step forward as a community that contemplates and acts together for Uljin’s future."

Uljin County Governor Son Byungbok commented, "The Jaegu Uljin Residents’ Association is the strongest supporter of Uljin’s development. The affection and solidarity of our fellow natives living outside the region have been a major driving force behind Uljin’s transformation and competitiveness. The county will continue to maintain close communication and cooperation."

National Assemblyman Park Hyungsoo remarked, "The 60-year history of the Jaegu Uljin Residents’ Association is a testament to the solidarity and dedication of the local community. In the National Assembly, I will do my utmost to ensure that the voices of Uljin and its natives are faithfully reflected in policies and systems."

Lee Donghwan, President of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Residents’ Association, stated, "The trust and solidarity built by each regional residents’ association are assets for the entire community. I hope the Jaegu Uljin Residents’ Association will continue to play a central role as a model alumni organization."

Suseong District Mayor Kim Daegwon also congratulated the association on its 60th anniversary, saying, "The active exchange and participation of Uljin natives living in Daegu are bringing great vitality to the local community."

Marking its 60th anniversary, the Jaegu Uljin Residents’ Association aims to further strengthen the bonds among its members, expand exchanges with their hometown Uljin, and enhance social contribution activities for regional coexistence. As the association looks beyond its 60-year history toward a new era, attention is focused both inside and outside the region on its next steps.
