The spokesperson for the General Staff Department of the Korean People's Army made this statement through the Korean Central News Agency, publishing a declaration titled, "South Korea must be prepared to pay the price for yet another provocation of sovereignty infringement by unmanned aerial vehicles."

The spokesperson stated, "On January 4, our border anti-air surveillance units detected and tracked an aerial target moving northward over the area of Hado-ri, Songhae-myeon, Ganghwa County, Incheon City. After tactically allowing it to penetrate up to 8 km into our airspace, we attacked it with specialized electronic assets, forcing it to crash 1,200 meters from Hill 101.5 in Moksan-ri, Gaepung District, Kaesong City."

The spokesperson continued, "The crashed drone was equipped with surveillance devices," and explained, "Relevant intelligence and investigative agencies collected the wreckage of the drone and analyzed its flight plan, flight history, and recorded footage."

Additionally, the spokesperson pointed out, "Two cameras on the drone contained video footage of our territory, with durations of 6 minutes and 59 seconds and 6 minutes and 58 seconds, respectively, recorded before the crash."

Previously, North Korea also claimed that there was a South Korean drone incursion in September last year, criticizing, "Even after the regime of thugs in Seoul was replaced, South Korean drone provocations near the border have continued."

The spokesperson stated, "At around 11:15 a.m. on September 27 last year, a hostile drone that took off from Jeokseong-myeon, Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, infiltrated the airspace over Pyeongsan County, North Hwanghae Province, on our side." He emphasized, "The drone that crashed at that time, like the one that crashed this time, was a small fixed-wing drone capable of flying for up to six hours at altitudes below 500 meters, and was clearly a surveillance and reconnaissance asset equipped with a high-resolution optical camera mounted on the underside of the fuselage to photograph ground targets."

North Korea claimed that this drone also contained 5 hours and 47 minutes of video footage of the northern region.

The spokesperson stated, "The applied communication and navigation methods, the programmed flight plan, the recorded flight history, and the captured footage all prove that the drone was conducting aerial reconnaissance and was specialized for that purpose," adding, "It is not difficult to guess who is behind this."

The spokesperson went on to say, "While they talk about 'drilling even a needle-sized hole' for communication with us, they do not stop their provocative acts against us, which again reinforces the hostile perception of the entity called South Korea,"and criticized, "The entity called South Korea is our most hostile and unchanging enemy, and if it challenges us, it will inevitably be destroyed."

He further threatened, "The absolutely intolerable belligerent behavior of the South Korean warmongers will inevitably be met with consequences," and stated, "South Korean authorities cannot avoid responsibility for escalating tensions."

On this day, the Korean Central News Agency also released about 20 photos, including images of the drones shot down by the North Korean military in September last year and on the 4th of this month, the surveillance devices attached to them, images of the Gaepung District area taken by the drones, and the recorded flight histories.
