Jeonnam Office of Education Expresses Immediate Welcome
to President Lee Jaemyung's Support Measures
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education expressed its welcome on January 9 to President Lee Jaemyung's pledge of large-scale financial support regarding the integration of Gwangju and Jeonnam, stating that it would serve as a "catalyst for a groundbreaking transformation."
On this day at the presidential office, President Lee Jaemyung held a luncheon meeting with local lawmakers and provincial governors, reaffirming his commitment to the grand integration of Gwangju and Jeonnam. During the meeting, President Lee promised bold incentives, including a significant expansion of financial support, a second phase of public institution relocations, and support for attracting industries and businesses.
In response, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education issued a statement in the name of Superintendent Kim Daejung, saying, "The generous support promised by the President will become a valuable driving force to change the future of the region," and emphasized, "To realize such a transformation, 'educational integration' that nurtures people must be pursued in parallel."
Superintendent Kim urged, "The great historical trend of integration must not be hindered by unnecessary debates," and earnestly requested, "I sincerely ask members of the education community to join this movement for a happier future for our children."
He added, "Gwangju and Jeonnam originally share the same roots," and expressed hope that "a greater Gwangju and Jeonnam will provide better opportunities for our children, and that we can nurture this hope together."
