Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier of the State Council of China, met with Disney CEO Bob Iger, who visited Beijing on January 9, and encouraged investment in China.
According to foreign media reports, Vice Premier Ding stated, "We welcome companies from around the world, including Disney, to continue investing in China and to become deeply rooted in the Chinese market."
CEO Iger responded, "Disney has great confidence in China's development and will continue to expand its investments in China to further promote exchanges and cooperation between the United States and China."
This visit has led to speculation that Disney may be planning to open a new theme park in China.
CEO Iger expanded Disney's media empire by acquiring franchises such as Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, and oversaw the opening of Shanghai Disneyland.
