On January 9, President Lee Jaemyung presented the letter of appointment to Kim Jongcheol, Chairman of the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission, at the main reception hall of the Blue House.
Chairman Kim is the inaugural head of the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission, which was established following the dissolution of the Korea Communications Commission as part of a government reorganization. He previously served as a professor at Yonsei University Law School and held positions such as Research Fellow at the Information and Communication Ethics Committee, Vice Chair of the National Constitutional Advisory Special Committee, President of the Korean Association of Human Rights Law, President of the Korean Association of Media Law, and President of the Korean Public Law Association.
The National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee adopted the personnel hearing report on Chairman Kim by bipartisan agreement on December 17 of last year, and President Lee approved his appointment the following day.
