Alliance with TSMC Expected to Strengthen Further

Nvidia's new overseas headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan, will hold its groundbreaking ceremony this month and officially begin construction. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, is scheduled to fly to Taipei on January 30 to attend the related event. During this visit, CEO Huang is expected to emphasize the importance of the Taiwan headquarters as a production base and further strengthen the company's collaborative framework with Taiwan.

In an interview with Taiwanese media in Las Vegas, where CES 2026 is being held, CEO Huang stated, "I will be going to Taiwan to attend the Nvidia event on the 30th."

CEO Huang is expected to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Taiwan headquarters and participate in events with Nvidia employees. On the following day, January 31, he is also scheduled to have dinner with executives from major local suppliers in Taiwan. After participating in the local events, CEO Huang will tour the site within the Beitou Shilin Science Park where the new headquarters will be built. This visit was arranged after Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an sent an official letter inviting CEO Huang to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Taiwan headquarters. Nvidia had one remaining step: to meet with Taipei City officials and sign documents related to administrative procedures for establishing the headquarters. Although other executives could have been dispatched to sign the documents, Mayor Chiang determined it would be more impactful for CEO Huang to personally attend, sign, and participate in the commemorative event to showcase the significance of the Taiwan headquarters. CEO Huang reportedly expressed his preference for the signing ceremony to be a pleasant and informal occasion rather than a formal event conducted at a table.

The Nvidia Taiwan headquarters, to be located within the Beitou Shilin Science Park, will occupy the T17 and T18 sites and is nicknamed the "Constellation Headquarters." Covering approximately 38,900 square meters (about 11,700 pyeong), the facility will not only serve as an office space but also as an R&D center for AI chip design, robotics, and quantum computing. The building was designed by Chris Yao (Yao Renxi), a renowned Taiwanese architect with nearly 40 years of experience, widely recognized as one of Taiwan's leading architects.

This will be Nvidia's first overseas headquarters outside the United States. It is expected to play a leading role in driving collaboration with countries across the Asia region, including Taiwan, China, South Korea, and Japan, attracting significant attention. International media and industry observers believe this will further strengthen the alliance between Nvidia and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Taiwanese media have highlighted the announcement made at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas on January 5 that mass production of the next-generation graphics processing unit (GPU), "Vera Rubin," has already begun, emphasizing that TSMC's role will continue to grow.

The Nvidia Vera Rubin GPU is primarily being produced using TSMC's 3-nanometer (nm; 1 nm = one-billionth of a meter) process and the advanced CoWoS-L packaging technology. Nvidia also holds daily meetings with TSMC executives, and the partnership between the two companies has now lasted for about 30 years. Speaking to reporters in the United States, CEO Huang said, "TSMC is working extremely hard," adding, "We will continue to maintain close cooperation and jointly pursue opportunities in the chip business for the AI era."
