A Masterpiece Crafted by the Breath of Aragaya... 15th Haman Dried Persimmon Festival to Be Held

From January 23 to 25 at Haman Gymnasium and Surrounding Area

Haman County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 9 that the 15th Haman Dried Persimmon Festival, organized by the Haman Dried Persimmon Festival Committee, will be held from January 23 to 25 at the Haman Gymnasium and its surrounding area.

Under the theme "A Masterpiece Crafted by the Breath of Aragaya: Haman Dried Persimmon," this year's festival will showcase premium dried persimmons of exceptional quality, befitting the reputation of Haman dried persimmons, which are known as a delicacy even favored by royalty.

Haman Susigam persimmons are the lightest in weight compared to other varieties, but are characterized by a high sugar content and rich aroma when fully ripened. Combined with the clear winter winds of Haman and the dedication and effort of local farmers, these persimmons are transformed into some of the most renowned dried persimmons in the country. Their beautiful shape and vivid color have earned them the distinction of being presented as royal tribute since the reign of King Sukjong of the Joseon Dynasty, a testament to their outstanding taste and quality.

On the first day of the festival, January 23, the event will begin at 1:45 p.m. with a pre-ceremony performance by the Ara Ensemble, followed by the opening ceremony, various hands-on activities, and a direct sales market, concluding at 5:00 p.m. On January 24, Park Sanghyun from "Noraega Jota" and Jaylin, a former contestant of "Miss Trot," will perform celebratory concerts, while on January 25, traditional Korean music singer Hwang Ina and Choi Suho, a former contestant of "Mr. Trot," will take the stage to further enhance the festive atmosphere. In particular, the festival's signature events, such as the "Dried Persimmon Rice Cake Rolling" activity and the "Dried Persimmon Singing Contest," continue to be beloved by many local residents every year.

A festival official stated, "This year's dried persimmons are of especially high quality compared to previous years," adding, "We hope visitors will come to the festival and enjoy Haman's premium dried persimmons, a sweet winter treat."
