The center was established through industry-academic cooperation between Kookmin University and MFC Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the development and manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and core pharmaceutical materials.

This center is regarded as a leading example of industry-academic collaboration, combining Kookmin University's accumulated research achievements in artificial intelligence (AI)-based formulation design with the company's capabilities in practical demonstration and commercialization.

The opening ceremony was attended by key figures in industry and academia, including Kookmin University President Jung Seung-ryul, Technical Advisor Professor Kim Jueun, and MFC Co., Ltd. CEO Hwang Sungkwan.

The center plans to establish the foundational technology necessary to realize MFC Co., Ltd.'s core project, the 'Non-Stop Solution Project: From Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients to Finished Pharmaceutical Products.'

As part of this initiative, the center will jointly pursue formulation research for new drug development, support for partner companies in pharmaceutical formulation development, and the acquisition of core technologies for entering the finished pharmaceutical products sector.

President Jung stated, "The launch of the AI Formulation Research Center is a meaningful achievement, as it connects Kookmin University's AI and pharmaceutical convergence research capabilities to industrial innovation. Moving forward, Kookmin University will continue to contribute to strengthening the national bio and pharmaceutical industry's competitiveness through practical industry-academic cooperation."
