Taehun Lee and Hongtaek Kim Advance to Second Round of LIV Golf Promotion

Taehun Lee (Canada) has advanced to the second round of the LIV Golf Promotion.

On January 8 (local time), at Black Diamond Ranch (par 70) in Florida, USA, Lee shot a 6-under-par 64 in the first round of the LIV Golf Promotion (total prize money of 1.5 million dollars), entering the second round in first place. Lee has achieved a total of four wins on the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour.

This is a promotion tournament where players compete for a spot in the 2026 LIV Golf season. After the first round, a total of 29 players up to a tie for 19th place secured their spots in the second round.

Kim Hongtaek, who plays on both the KPGA Tour and the Asian Tour, shot a 4-under-par 66 to tie for second place. Domestically, he competes in both field and screen tours. He has three wins on the KPGA Tour and sixteen wins on the G Tour. Park Sungguk also advanced to the second round, finishing tied for 15th with a 2-under-par 68. On the other hand, Kim Jaeho, Jeon Garam, and Kim Youngsoo were eliminated.

The competition is expected to intensify from the second round of the LIV Golf Promotion. Eighteen players who qualified through the Asian Tour International Series rankings will join the field. For Korea, Wang Junghoon, Lee Sumin, and Hwang Doyeon will compete for ranking positions. The LIV Golf Promotion will feature four days of competition for the championship. The top three finishers will receive full LIV Golf status for this year, while the top ten will earn spots in the Asian Tour International Series.
