Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do demonstrated its outstanding administrative capabilities once again in 2025 by achieving record-breaking results in various evaluations conducted by central government ministries and external organizations.

According to Jeongeup City on January 9, the city received a total of 66 awards last year and secured 1.55 billion won in incentives, fully showcasing its reputation for "strong administration" to the public. This figure represents a 20% increase compared to the previous year’s record of 55 awards, further elevating its status as the municipality with the most awards in the province.

By sector, the achievements in administrative innovation and safety were particularly remarkable. The city swept major awards in the field of administrative innovation, including the highest honor-the Presidential Award-at the 18th Korea Local Finance Awards hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Minister's Commendation at the Government Innovation Grand Champion Competition, and selection as an outstanding organization in the proactive administration performance review.

There were also notable achievements in health, welfare, and education. The city was recognized for its comprehensive welfare policies covering marginalized groups, such as being selected as an excellent local government in the self-sufficiency sector and as an outstanding institution in the Dream Start program evaluation. Additionally, Jeongeup City was acknowledged for its high-quality public services by being chosen as an excellent institution in the National Local Government Job Awards and receiving the Minister’s Commendation for excellence in emergency preparedness training.

The city attributed these remarkable results to its proactive response to changing administrative demands and the efforts of its staff, who strategically prepared for external evaluations, as well as the participation of its citizens.

Lee Haksoo, Mayor of Jeongeup City, stated, "The record-breaking achievement of 66 awards is a valuable result accomplished through the combined support of Jeongeup citizens and the passion of our public officials. We will not rest on these laurels but will continue to implement practical, substantive policies in 2026 so that citizens can experience positive changes in their daily lives."
